Curaçao, Denmark, Iceland and Slovakia are to be removed from England's travel corridor list at 4am on Saturday, September 26, 2020.

Travel advice in the UK remains ever changing in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The travel corridor list is a record of countries, territories and regions from which people can travel to England and may not have to self-isolate upon arrival.

Countries, territories and regions can be taken off or added to the travel corridor list at any time, with guidance usually reviewed on Thursday evenings.

The latest development means if you arrive in England from Curaçao, Denmark, Iceland or Slovakia after 4am on September 26, you will need to self-isolate.

If you arrive in England from Curaçao, Denmark, Iceland or Slovakia before 4am on September 26, you may not need to self-isolate.

Iceland and Denmark were at risk of being removed from the travel corridor list earlier this week following a spike in coronavirus cases. The counties experienced case rates of 68.6 and 63.2 respectively.

Other countries at or near the threshold include Sweden with 20 and Italy at 18.1.

According to the government website, coronavirus (COVID-19) regulations mean that you must self-isolate for 14 days when you arrive in the UK. This applies to UK residents and visitors to the UK.

You may not have to self-isolate when you arrive in England if you are travelling from one of the countries, territories, regions or territories on the travel corridor list. That is because these are either:

  • within the common travel area - Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man
  • British overseas territories
  • covered by the travel corridor exemption

You will need to self-isolate if you visited or made a transit stop in a country or territory that is not on the travel corridor list in the 14 days before you arrive in England.

This applies to all travel to England, by train, ferry, coach, air or any other route.
