MUMBAI: A bus conductor suffered injuries and received stitches to the head after he was assaulted by a commuter who refused to wear a mask on Wednesday.
Bus conductor Sainath Kharpade was on duty on route 706 ferrying passengers from Bhayander to Marol in Andheri. En route, a passenger got in without wearing a mask. The conductor says he politely asked him to wear a mask, but the passenger refused saying he didn’t have Covid.
When the conductor requested him again, he got angry. The passenger reportedly assaulted the conductor and left him bleeding, while he made good his escape at the next stop. The conductor later registered a police complaint.
