Speaking of the waters, the Maldives islands are renowned for their incredible marine life, so adventurers may want to don some snorkel gear to catch a glimpse of the colourful fish that reside here.

Unfortunately, while the water villas look absolutely dreamy, the price tag will quickly bring you back to reality.

Prices start from $2,626 per night (approx £2,050) for the one-bedroom retreats, while stays at the two-bedroom retreats start from $5,232 per night (approx £4,100).
