Manchester United have been handed a further boost regarding Axel Tuanzebe's fitness ahead of their trip to face Brighton in the Premier League this weekend.

United are back in action on Saturday as they travel to the Amex for a 12.30pm kick-off, before facing the same opposition in the Carabao Cup next week too.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was handed a defensive headache early into the new season after a horror show from his side against Crystal Palace on the opening day of the campaign.

Eric Bailly replaced Victor Lindelof for the Carabao Cup victory over Luton in midweek and now it seems like Tuanzebe could hand United another boost after stepping up his efforts in training.

MEN Sport reported earlier in the month the 22-year-old defender has fully recovered from his recent foot surgery and not suffered any fresh setbacks in his recovery.

Despite an injury-plagued 2019-20 campaign, Tuanzebe is confident of his playing prospects at United and a source close to the defender said 'he feels brand new'.

Now the defender has taken another step in the right direction after he was pictured going through a rigorous fitness exercise in training images released by the club on Thursday.

Tuanzebe last played for United in the League Cup quarter-final win over Colchester on December 18 and hasn't been included in a matchday squad since March.
