Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer on Friday paid tribute to former India skipper MS Dhoni and lauded the veteran cricketer for inspiring a whole new generation of young players, himself included.

Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings will be taking on Shreyas Iyer's Delhi Capitals in Match 7 of the Indian Premier League at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

DC are coming into this match on the back of their Super Over win over Kings XI Punjab in their campaign opener while CSK lost their last match against Rajasthan Royals after beating Mumbai Indians in the tournament-opener on September 19. (CSK vs DC IPL 2020 Live Score)

"He has been a role model for all cricketers, won so many trophies for India. He has led as an example, specially for us youngsters he has showed us how to stay calm in pressure situations and also to completely hypnotise the bowlers in the death overs.

"There are lot of learnings from him, I really admire him as a captain and I hope in the future I get to learn a lot of things from him and apply them to my game," Iyer told India Today.

MS Dhoni retired from international on August 15 this year, bringing an end to his illustrious 16-year career during which he led India to victory in the 2007 World T20, 2011 ICC World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

He is still the only captain in international cricket to win all 3 ICC trophies apart from 3 IPL titles and 2 Champions League wins.
