HIGH FALLS RESORT OWNER COLDIN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING COP

BRACEBRIDGE — Brian Coldin is back in the news again at his High Falls campground over an alleged assault on a police office and unrelated disputes this summer with campers over fees for trailer use.

Provincial police at Bracebridge said today, Sept. 28, that officers responded to several complaints from users of the Bracebridge campground/resort between July 30 and Aug. 29 after they say Coldin prevented patrons from removing their property until disputed fees were paid.

Police claim that “during an unrelated investigation,” Coldin drove heavy machinery in a manner that endangered the safety of responding officers and others nearby and “assaulted one of the responding officers.”

Police say they conducted investigations of these matters and have charged 60-year-old Coldin with the following offences:

Mischief CC 430(1)(d) and CC 430(1)(c) X 9

Theft Under $5,000 CC334(b)

Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1)

Assault CC 266

Coldin is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Oct. 20, 2020.

The naturist and owner of High Falls Bay Cottages, Camping & Waterpark, just off Hwy. 11 north of Bracebridge, has had numerous run-ins with the law dating back more than a decade, including a conviction for public nudity in a Hortons drive-thru.
