Tuesday's letters: Radio host's firing goes too far

Article content

OK, this has gone far enough. For crying out loud, nobody should lose their job because they said something that offends a few people. I don’t agree with Ryan Jespersen’s religious beliefs, and maybe I don’t share Mike Nickel’s taste in music. So what? Live, and let live. I fully support both gentlemen in their endeavours; both are top-drawer performers.

Wasn’t losing Don Cherry enough? The person who made the decision to turf Jespersen should take a good long look in the mirror.

Abandoning campfires a bad idea

I went out to Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area today with my daughter and granddaughter, and we had a picnic lunch at Waskahegan staging area before going for a walk on the trails.

I watched in amazement as a family at the next picnic table packed up and left, leaving a blazing campfire burning on what was a very windy day. If common sense doesn’t tell you what a bad idea that is, the dreadful situation to the south of us should give you pause before doing something like that. Our natural areas are too precious for that kind of carelessness.

Kenney should practise what he preaches

Jason Kenney on the relationship to federal government: “We don’t need politicians and bureaucrats in Ottawa micromanaging … .”

Kenney on the relationship to municipal government: Cities should focus on getting rid of “unnecessary rules, red tape and costs.”

Pot, meet kettle. Oh wait, they are the same person.

Grateful for stranger’s kindness

A great big thank you to the lady who paid for my large amount of groceries on Saturday morning at 10:45. I was unable to catch her. I will pass on her act of kindness to another individual. Only in Edmonton, you say. Surely not!
