UP: Kaushambi beats Prayagraj with a higher Covid recovery rate

PRAYAGRAJ: Even as the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in the district inches closes to 84%, it is Kaushambi which has clocked a higher recovery percentage at 90 % leaving Prayargaj (83.2%) and Pratapgarh (76%) behind.
As many as 3,654 patients have recovered from Covid-19 from September 19-29 against the 3,014 new cases recorded during the same period in Prayagraj.
According Prayagraj health department data, 15,901 out of 19,116 Covid-19 patients had recovered in the district by Tuesday.
Till now, the city had 3,952 active cases. A senior health official said, “On September 1, the tally of Covid-19 cases was over 10,000, while the number of recoveries was 7,386. Things started changing in September second week and the recovery rate has improved since then.”
Health department statistics show that Prayagraj district recorded a spurt in Covid-19 cases June onwards. Till May 31, 87 cases and three deaths were recorded in the city. In over a month, the number had risen by 199 to 286 patients along with eight deaths. The statistics also showed that July and August recorded 2,142 and 7,540 cases respectively.
By August 31, the continuous rise in Covid-19 cases took the tally to 9,668. On September 1, the caseload crossed the 10,000-mark. Between September 1-29, as many as 9,116 more residents were diagnosed with the infection in the city. During the period, 8,515 patients also recovered.
Pratapgarh and Kaushambi have 724 and 124 active cases respectively.
In Pratapgarh, 3,762 Covid-19 cases were recorded till Tuesday. Of these, 2,867 patients have recovered.
Of the 1,497 patients diagnosed in Kaushambi, 1,349 had recovered till Tuesday. The recovery percentage of Pratapgarh and Kaushmabi is 76 % and 90% respectively.
