New suburb record – 303 McCarrs Creek Rd, Terrey Hills, has sold.

A lavish property on Sydney’s northern beaches with its own lagoon, Great Barrier Reef aquarium and drive-in outdoor movie theatre – just to name a few of the features – has just sold for a new suburb record.

Angophora Lodge, at 303 McCarrs Creek Rd, Terrey Hills sold in a hush-hush deal believed to be around the guide of $10.5 million to $11 million, through Darren Curtis, of Ken Jacobs Christie’s International Realty and Shayne Hutton and Taylor Snell, of Sydney Country Living.

Spring resurgence boosts home prices

Mr Curtis said he could not comment on the sale price or the identity of the buyer, but confirmed it was a new suburb sales record.

The Terrey Hills residential sales record has been held by 4 Kinka Rd, for more than eight years. It sold in February, 2012 for $9.5 million, according to CoreLogic.

Who doesn’t need a private lagoon?

What a games room.

He said there had been a surge of interest in prestige northern beaches property in recent weeks, partly driven by Sydney buyers from areas like the eastern suburbs, who could see strong value for money.

Many of these buyers were no longer deterred by the distance, largely due to changing lifestyles from COVID.

“Terrey Hills (303 McCarrs Creek Rd) is a good example – there’s a lot of property there for the money,” he said.

There are four bathrooms.

Room for all the toys – even a helicopter.

And he is not kidding.

The 1,65ha Angophora Lodge is a multi award-winning six-bedroom palatial estate that backs onto the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

It has a man-made 600,000 litre lagoon and waterfall, floodlit tennis court, poolside cabana, sauna and separate two-bedroom guesthouse with garaging for up to 10 cars – or even helicopter storage. There is even a drive-in outdoor movie theatre.

The property last sold in 2014 for $7.5 million, according to CoreLogic data.

Mr Curtis said the home was built in the mid-1990s and the current owners had invested heavily in improvements.

“The construction of the home is unlike most others as it is all double brick, sandstone and a huge concrete slab … the owners are looking to sell to move closer to water,” he said

“It has the most incredible garaging and a 600,000L filtered saltwater lagoon that I have never seen the likes of before.”

There’s that lagoon again.

And that’s just the outside.

Inside the home has multiple casual and formal living spaces, as well as a sandstone fireplace and stone kitchen.

There are custom finishes throughout including New Guinea rosewood, Carrara marble, Victorian ash, Mink Caesarstone, Gosford Pink sandstone, spotted gum and recycled Ironbark.

Other features include a games room with indoor home cinema, deluxe bar, unique custom-made billiards/pool table and Great Barrier Reef aquarium.

The property has a horse paddock backing onto the popular multi-use Duck Holes Trail mountain bike and walking track, a jacuzzi deck with firepit and outdoor shower, numerous veggie gardens and chook pen.
