Mumbai suburban railway, Delhi metro provide special services to UPSC candidates

MUMBAI: The Ministry of Railways granted permission to Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) candidates and their escorts to travel by special services over Mumbai Suburban railway network on 3 and 4 October, according to Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Western Railways.
All the candidates have to use exam call letter and I-card for entry at station.
"On UPSC Secretary's request, permission granted by Railways Ministry to UPSC candidates and their escorts for travel by special services over Mumbai Suburban railway network on 3 and 4 October.Candidates to use exam call letter and I-card for entry at station," said CPRO of Western Railway.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination is scheduled for October 4.
Delhi metro begins services for UPSC candidates
The services of the Delhi metro began at 6 am from terminal stations of all lines on October 4 (Sunday) as a measure to facilitate the students for the UPSC examinations.
"To facilitate students for the UPSC examinations, Delhi Metro services will begin at 6 AM from terminal stations of all lines on 4th October," the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation tweeted on Saturday.
The DMRC in a statement on Sunday, September 20, had said that the regular timings as per earlier time table with services starting at 8:00 AM on Phase 3 sections (on Sundays) will continue.
The metro, which had suspended its services in March due to the Covid-19 outbreak, reopened with caution putting into place a series of measures such as closed token counters, limited entry and exit points, thermal scanners, and sanitisers among others to enable commuters to adhere to Covid-19 protection protocols.
Apart from regular frontline staff at the stations, the DMRC has made the additional deployment of around 1,000 officials/staff across the line(s)/network to assist and guide passengers in the wake of new norms of Metro travel, which may take some time to settle in.
Special train from Hubballi to Bengaluru
The South Western Railway (SWR) would operate a special train from Hubballi, in northwest Karnataka, to Bengaluru on Saturday to enable candidates appearing for the UPSC civil services exams on Sunday reach the state capital, an official said on Friday.
"The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) examination special express (train #07391) will depart from Hubballi at 5 p.m. on Saturday and arrive at Yesvantpur in Bengaluru at 6.45 a.m. on Sunday," said the zonal railway official in a statement here.
On return journey, the special train (#07392) will depart from Yesvantpur at 8 p.m. on Sunday and arrive in Hubballi at 8.45 a.m. on Monday.
"The train will have 17 coaches, including one AC 3-tier, 10 second class sleeper, four general coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans," added the official.
The special train is being run due to cancellation of regular services by the railways across the country since March 25 to contain the coronavirus spread and Covid-induced lockdown restrictions.
