THANE/NAVI MUMBAI: Thane city crossed the 40,000-mark for Covid-19 patients on Friday, while 356 new cases were added in NMMC areas on Friday, taking the total to 39,777.
Nearly 89% of them have, however, recovered in Navi Mumbai and 88% in Thane. Thane has recorded 40,094 cases, and there was an increase of 10,000 patients in almost a month.
But activist Rohit Malhotra said, “We now have nearly 40,000 positive cases in NMMC, where the population is 15 lakh.
It means 2.6% of our city is infected. This is higher than Maharashtra’s 1.3%.” NMMC civic chief Abhijit Bangar said the situation was not bleak.
