Killing of MLA’s uncle in Ghaziabad likely fallout of an old enmity
The area where the murder took place is supposed to be protected, and therefore, more secure.
While police were silent on the possible motive behind the killing, sources said since Naresh worked closely with government departments and it was possible that the murder was the result of old enmity.
Naresh was sprayed with bullets at 5.55am just after he had left his house in C block of Lohia Nagar for a walk. “The park where Naresh used to go for strolls is on the other side of the road adjacent to the house of KC Tyagi. Just as Naresh neared the main gate of the park, two men on the scooter showed up,” a police officer said, adding Naresh was shot in the head, stomach and chest. “CCTV footage shows the two men fleeing on the scooter,” he added.

IG Meerut range Praveen Kumar visited the spot soon after and formed five teams to nab the accused. Police are now scanning CCTV footage to zero in on the accused and are also questioning family members for leads. “So far, we have got some clues and will nab the accused soon,” Kumar said.
MLA Ajit Pal Tyagi said rushed to Lohia Nagar later in the day. “I have no clue as to who carried out the killing and at whose behest, but we will extend all possible help to the police.”
KC Tyagi said he was shocked that something like this had happened in the neighbourhood. “If something like this can take place in such an upscale and protected locality, I wonder what will happen elsewhere,” he said.
