Jhansi: Man beheads wife, carries severed head to police station to surrender

JHANSI: A man beheaded his wife with an axe on suspicion of infidelity and then walked to a nearby police station carrying her head and the axe in his hands to surrender himself in Banda district on Friday morning.
The horrific incident was reported from the Baberu area of the district. As per the neighbours, the accused identified as Kinner Yadav, 35, is a labourer. He suspected that his wife Vimla (30) was cheating on him with a neighbour, Ravi.There had been fights between the couple a number of times in this regard.
On Friday morning, Kinner called Ravi to his house and attacked him with an axe. Seeing this, Vimla ran to save him. In turn, Kinner hit her as well, but she managed to run to a neighbouring house. Kinner followed her inside the house, dragged her out and kept on hitting her with the axe till her head got severed.
Kinner then took the head and the axe in his hands and walked down to a nearby police station, which was a kilometre away, to surrender. All the passers-by and police staff at the station were shocked to see a man walking with a severed head in his hands. Police immediately arrested him. They took the wife’s body in their custody and sent it for postmortem.
On his way to the police station, many bystanders were seen filming Kinner, to which he said he had no problem with it and the news should be shown all over the country.
According to neighbours, Kinner, who originally belongs to Amlohra village of the district, has been staying in Baberu area of Banda in a rented accommodation. Earlier, he used to work in Prayagraj, but had to return to Banda owing to the lockdown.
Banda SP Sidharth Shankar said, “The accused has been arrested and further actions are being initiated.” He further said that during the interrogation, Kinner admitted that he suspected his wife of having an illegitimate relationship with Ravi, and that this is the reason he committed the heinous crime.
Ravi was critically injured and admitted to a hospital.
