MYSURU: A 26-year-old scientist working in Rare Materials Project, a unit of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) here, has been reported missing for four days now. Abhishek Reddy Gulla, police said, hasn’t been to work for three weeks and was last seen by his neighbour, a BARC technician.
A complaint has been lodged at Yelwala police station.
Reddy, a scientific officer, went missing from his house in New Janata Colony at Yelawala, on the city outskirts, on October 6.
Reddy moved to Mysuru from Chittur district of Andhra Pradesh a year ago after he secured a job at BARC.
Additional SP R Shivakumar told TOI that investigations are on and details would be shared soon.
Did not report to work for 20 days: Police
Police said Reddy rented a house near his office, about 15km from Mysuru city. “He was a bachelor and living alone. His parents died a few years ago and he was their only child. His father’s second wife lives in Andhra Pradesh. His only contact with family was with his uncle’s daughter occasionally over phone,” a police officer told TOI.
“For the past 5-6 years, he was suffering from acidity and migraine and was depressed. He has not reported to work either for the past 20 days,” the officer said. Rare Materials Project officials told police that Reddy was depressed and under treatment from designated hospitals. Doctors had reportedly treated him for migraine and advised to him to avoid stress.
