Uttarakhand's tehsildar among three dead as car plunges into canal in UP's Bijnor

Three people, including Roorkee tehsildar Sunaina Rana (35), were killed after their car en route to Roorkee from Nainital crashed into railings of a bridge and plunged into East Ganga canal late on Saturday near Sarvanpur village under Najibabad police station area in UP's Bijnor.

BIJNOR: Three people, including Roorkee tehsildar Sunaina Rana (35), were killed after their car en route to Roorkee from Nainital crashed into railings of a bridge and plunged into East Ganga canal late on Saturday near Sarvanpur village under Najibabad police station area in UP's Bijnor.
Deceased tehsildar and her two staff were returning from Nainital after attending a training programme when the accident took place.
Police have fished out their bodies after hours long operation.

Following alert, Bijnor district magistrate Ramakant Pandey and superintendent of police Dharamveer Singh also rushed to the spot.
Confirming the accident, district magistrare Pandey claimed that the mishap occurred on late on Saturday when the tehsildar was travelling in a car along with her staff and driver fron Nainital to Roorkee.
The speeding car lost its control and crashed into the railings of the bridge of East Ganga canal close to Sarvanpur village. Onlookers alerted the cops about the incident.
After a herculean rescue operation, bodies of the deceased were fished out. The car which had plunged into over 20-feet deep water was also pulled out using crane.
Giving more details, district magistrate said, "Bodies were identified as Uttrakhand's tehsildar Sunaina Rana, her staff Ompal and driver Sundar Singh. They were returning from a training programme which was organised at Nainital. We have apprised Uttrakhand administration about the accident. Probe is on. Bodies are being sent to district hospital for autopsy".
