After Noida, Ghaziabad to get its 1st post-Covid care centre

GHAZIABAD: The MMG District Hospital in Ghaziabad will soon have a special clinic to tend to Covid patients who develop complications or want to seek consultation after testing negative for the infection.
Health department officials on Monday said a letter will be sent to the hospital management to start the facility at the earliest.
The officials said Covid patients who face complications after testing negative will be provided consultation and testing facilities at the clinic.Such clinics have already started operations in the neighbouring districts of Noida and Delhi.
Officials said doctors and medical staff will be posted after identifying the area in the district hospital where the post-Covid clinic will be set up. Besides getting medical advice, the patients will also be able to undergo necessary investigations.
The clinic will provide facilities for ECG, X-ray, ultrasound, as well as antibodies test, the officials added. All treatment will be done based on symptoms.
It will also provide help from psychiatrists to treat behavioural changes. If needed, the officials said, help from district mental health cell will also be taken.
Even after recovering from Covid-19, patients experience issues like pneumonia, body ache, breathlessness, headache, nervousness, acidity and constipation, a senior official said, adding that several people face social stigma that can also affect their mental health. All such issues will be tackled, he said.
The official informed that last week, the state government had directed all districts not to discharge patients with comorbidities immediately after they test negative for Covid-19, and instead shift them to a non-Covid facility and provide them treatment for other health issues.
“While the latest order is limited to comorbid patients, the post-Covid clinic will cater to everyone,” the official added.
