THANE: The Thane Municipal Corporation is developing a post-Covid care centre to provide assistance and monitor the recovery of patients once they battle the virus. It is learnt the facility, a oneof-its-kind initiative, is the brainchild of chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, who wanted post-recovery attention to patients. The pilot project is being planned at Majiwada.
Deputy municipal commissioner Sandeep Malvi said the facility will be a one-stop point for all post-Covid issues.
“A team of in-house medical, psychiatrists and fitness experts will be deployed to not just monitor recovered patients, but also tackle queries about any health concerns. The facility will also house experts to guide patients on diet and suggest exercises. It will have a yoga centre too,” he said.
A civic official said there have been several instances where relatives complained patients were suffering psychological trauma or fatigue after recovery, while a few developed health complications. “We are working on a single umbrella unit that will tackle all these issues,” Malvi said, adding once operational, it will be a model facility in the state.
