KALABURAGI: Four teachers, two of whom work at Chinchansur primary and higher primary school in
Kalaburagi taluk, have tested positive for Covid-19, officials said. The positive tests have come just two days after the government scrapped its Vidyagama programme after reports that teachers and students were catching the infection due to classes.
Bharathraj Savalagi, block education officer, revealed another teacher, who works in the same taluk, is also showing symptoms of the disease.
He said throat and nose swab samples from this teacher have been taken for testing and a report is awaited. He said two teachers are in home isolation, while the other two are in hospital.
Chinchansur village has a model primary school, a primary school, high school and an Urdu medium school. A total 30 teachers are employed in these schools and all are from the same village.
The government halted the Vidyagama programme following reports that 23 children in Belagavi and four in Kalaburagi districts had tested positive for Covid-19 after attending the programme’s outdoor classes.
