UP: Five killed in road mishap at Prayagraj-Pratapgarh highway

PRAYAGRAJ: Five persons including three members of a family were killed in a road mishap on Karnaipur – Tilai bazar road under the limits of Baharia police station of Prayagraj district here late on Tuesday evening.
The incident, as per police, took place when the victims were on their way to Pratapgarh from Baharia ( Prayagraj).
SSP (Prayagraj) Sarvashreshth Tripathi told TOI that five persons including a man and four women died on the spot when SUV carrying them turned turtle into a water filled pit near Karnaipur road.
He added that four others were also injured in the road mishap.
SSP further claimed that these persons had come to Baharia to attend a family function on Monday and were returning to their native village in Mandhata area of pratapgarh district after attending Bhandara. There were nine people travelling in the SUV.
Baharia police said that Pramod Kumar (35) was driving the SUV and when he reached near Karnaipur – Tilai bazar road, he lost his control over the vehicle and turned turtle and left five people dead on spot. The injured persons were taken to a hospital in city for treatment.
