    Synopsis

Bihar Assembly Poll: LJP is 'vote katwa party', they don't want BJP government in Bihar, says Sushil Modi
Patna: LJP president Chirag Paswan was indulging in lies and deceit, BJP general secretary Bhupender Yadav has alleged. His remarks came in response to Paswan’s statement that the ‘picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the heart of every LJP worker’. “It is very unfortunate that Chirag Paswan is making statements against Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and the NDA alliance,” Bhupender Yadav told ET in Patna on Friday.

“He became an MP twice as NDA member. He was all praise for NDA till February. I don’t know what happened in the last six months. He is practising politics of lies and deceit for his vested interests,” Yadav alleged. Ever since LJP’s exit from NDA in Bihar, Paswan has tried to convince voters that his party has an understanding with BJP. “He is trying to create a confusion. We have no alliance with LJP; it is not part of NDA. He shouldn’t have any confusion over this,” Yadav said.

Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi too attacked Paswan, adds Aman Sharma from New Delhi. Talks with LJP broke down after it demanded 36 seats against 20 BJP had offered Modi told ET and refuted refuted Chirag’s claim that he had discussed strategy with home minister Amit Shah. “I spoke to Amit Shah on phone and he has refuted that he had given tacit support. There was no such discussion between him and Chirag. It is baseless. Talks broke down as Chirag insisted on 36 seats,” Modi told ET. Chirag’s stand meant he was “challenging Modi and Shah” by objecting to Kumar as CM as they projected Kumar as NDA’s CM candidate. “Those who cannot win a single seat on own strength are speaking of forming a government with BJP. When he says he will not let Kumar become CM, he means he will not let NDA to form a government. It is a design stop BJP from returning to power,” Modi alleged. BJP has cleared some of the confusion. “The rest will be dissipated when the CM and I campaign jointly followed by joint campaign of the PM and CM,” Modi said.
