The trailer of Hansal Mehta's Chhalaang was released today. The film stars Rajkummar Rao and Nushrat Bharucha in lead roles. The sports comedy is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 13. The film is presented by Bhushan Kumar and produced by Ajay Devgn, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg.

Chhalaang is the story of a Physical Education Teacher (PET master) at a government school in a Haryana town. Rajkummar Rao plays Montu, the PET, who is lazy and not passionate about teaching students. Take for example, when his mother wakes him up for school, he says, "Bachchon ke future ki chinta hai isliye khel kood main time waste nahi karta hu main (I care for children's future. Therefore I don't let them waste their time in sports)."

Montu's life is going smoothly as a PET until he finds competition for his post in Singh Sir, played by Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub. Montu then decides to buckle up and fight for his job. In his quest to save his job, the PET master gets support of Neelima ma'am, played by Nushrat Bharucha, who teaches Computer in the same school.

The trailer then shows how Montu becomes passionate about teaching students. He challenges Singh Sir for a tournament comprising different sports. The men form their teams and here begins the ultimate battle of sports.

A light-hearted comedy

Chhalaang is one of its kind film. While many films based on sports and coaches are made in Bollywood, it is the first film which is not about just one sport but about a PET. Taliing about Chhalaang, director Hansal Mehta said, “We made this film with the hopes of delivering a beautiful message through a light-hearted comedy. While being extremely relevant to student and teacher’s life, Chhalaang is a complete package filled with emotions of love, comedy, friendship, rivalry and emotional drama making it a perfect Diwali family entertainer."

Rajkummar Rao: Chhalaang took me back to my school days

Rajkummar Rao, who spent his schooling days in Haryana, says that he could relate to the character of Montu. The actor said that he had seen many teachers like Montu in his school. He added, "Sports play an essential role in building the character of children while having fun. Chhalaang took me back to my school days - looking back I realise how the sports I played in school have shaped me as a person today. This is a special film - a true family watch and perfect as a Diwali launch. This brings back joyful childhood memories while sending a powerful message."

Nusrat: My character is one that I have never explore before

Nusrat will be seen in a different role in Chhalaang. The actress, who is brought up in Mumbai, is playing a Haryanvi teacher in the film. She said that Rajkummar helped her with her diction for the film. She added, "I enjoy exploring unique, exciting roles across films and my character in Chhalaang is one that I have never explored before. When the film came my way, I was excited to essay this unique character while working with some of the best talent in the industry including Rajkummar Rao, Saurabh Shukla and Satish Kaushik, who are known for their impeccable performances."
