The Mumbai city has reported 1,823 new COVID-19 cases after seeing a spike of over 2,000 for several days.

The increase in new patients have pushed its overall case count to 2.38 lakh

The recoveries also dropped to 1644, taking the number of discharged to 2.5 lakh.

However, the death toll rose to 9,638 with 37 deaths.

In the neighbouring area of Dadar, 17 persons contracted the virus on Friday, and with that, the total number surged to 4,119.

Among those died, 33 had co-morbidities and 26 were above 60-years of age.

The city's recovery rate stands at 86 per cent and doubling rate at 82 days.


Maharashtra's too saw a spike of 11,447, taking the tally to 15,76,062.

The state also reported 306 fatalities during the day, taking the death toll to 41,502, he said.


The number of active patients in the state stands at 1,89,715.
