West Bengal: Cop dies of Covid-19 in Kolkata

An assistant sub-inspector of the Kolkata Armed Police succumbed to Covid-19 on Sunday morning, a health department official said. Siddhanta Shekhar De, in his mid-50s, had been battling the disease for the past couple of weeks. He breathed his last a private hospital here, the official said.

KOLKATA: An assistant sub-inspector of the Kolkata Armed Police succumbed to Covid-19 on Sunday morning, a health department official said. Siddhanta Shekhar De, in his mid-50s, had been battling the disease for the past couple of weeks. He breathed his last a private hospital here, the official said.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19, over 15 Kolkata Police personnel have died of the infection.
Taking to Twitter, Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma, who had last month fought and defeated the viral disease, mourned the demise of De.

"Lost our colleague ASI Siddhanta Shekhar De to Covid-19. We stand by his family members in this time of grief. Corona Martyr Salute," Sharma tweeted.
