NAGPUR: The elite C-60 commandos have neutralized six Maoists, including four women, during an encounter at
Kosmi-Kisneli forest in
Dhanora taluka in
north Gadchiroli on Sunday. This is the first major success of the Gadchiroli police this year.
In last two years, Gadchiroli police have neutralized more than 20 Maoists in different encounters.
It's learnt the maoists had assembled at a campsite where the commandos had zeroed in on them following an input.
After almost an hour of gunfight, five bodies and some materials were recovered from the site of the encounter.
The operation, conducted under the supervision of DIG Sandeep Patil and SP Ankit Goyal, was led by Addl SP
Manish Kalwaniya and SDPO
Bhausaheb Dhole who were learnt to be present at the spot.
The bodies of the Maoists were flown back to the Gadchiroli headquarters in chopper. The slain Maoists are yet to be identified.
