During their talks, Sonowal and Zoramthanga laid emphasis on joint efforts to address the issue.
Meanwhile, a Mizoram government spokesperson said it “has intimated MHA about the transgressions committed by Assam and the Union home secretary has convened a meeting with the chief secretaries of Mizoram and Assam on Monday”.
The trouble started when a Covid-19 testing centre was set up at “Lailapur in Assam (under Cachar district) on Friday by the Mizoram officials”. An Assam government official said after the Cachar administration objected to it, “some youths (from Mizoram) came to Lailapur and attacked villagers and burnt more than 15 small shops-cum-houses”.
