The Jogighopa project is the first among 35 such MMLP projects identified for implementation across the country and the only one that will be funded completely by the Centre.
A formal MoU signing ceremony between NHIDCL and Ashok Paper Mills will be organised in the presence of the Assam chief minister on Tuesday. Gadkari, in a letter dated October 14 to Barpeta MP Abdul Khaleque, had said that the foundation stone laying for construction of first multi-modal logistics park and external trunk connectivity infrastructure under Bharatmala Pariyojana at Jogighopa will be held through video conferencing at 11.30 am on Tuesday.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the park at Jogighopa, which will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 3000 crore, will cover an area of 200 acres. It will be a major step to develop logistical infrastructure, he said.
“The announcement of the Northeast Economic Corridor under the Bharatmala programme of the road ministry and the signing of the MoU (memorandum of understanding) between India and Bangladesh for developing the Dalu-Tura-Goalpara-Gelephu multimodal trade route strengthen the case of developing the park here,” said officials.
