Maharashtra: Covid-19 survey finds over 1 lakh people comorbid in Thane

THANE: Out of over 7lakh households that were surveyed in the first phase of 'my family, my responsibility' in the city over 1lakh people were comorbid, that is, high risk patients.
The drive was to not only identify people with the symptoms of Covid-19, but also make a note of the ones who are comorbid and have health problems like – blood pressure, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease etc. as they are high risk patients.
The authorities will be keeping a tab on the health of these patients.
The 368 teams that covered the nine wards in the city from September 18 till October 14 came across 1.03lakh citizens who are comorbid. The most number of citizens from this group were from Majiwada- Manpada ward as 23,514 comorbid cases were recorded, it was also a ward wherein the most number of citizens were detected with the symptoms of the infection – 1,556.
The authorities stated that they came across 6,870 patients with symptoms of the infection as they were suffering from - severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) or influenza like illness (ILI). It was seen that the least number of such citizens were from Vartak Nagar ward - 323
Also, the ones who were suspected of the infection or had any symptoms were asked to do antigen tests and hence 79,252 tests were done during the drive.
In the campaign the teams checked over 20 lakh citizens from 7.47 lakh households. The authorities have started the second phase of the drive from Saturday, which will end on October 27.
