Fabrication worker killed in major blast at chemical company in Bharuch

A fabrication worker was killed in a major blast in an air pressure tank at a chemical manufacturing company located in Jhagadia GIDC in Bharuch district on late Monday evening.

SURAT: A fabrication worker was killed in a major blast in an air pressure tank at a chemical manufacturing company located in Jhagadia GIDC in Bharuch district on late Monday evening.
The deceased, identified as Anup Singhasan Pandey (24), a resident of Chemie Organic colony in Jhagadia GIDC and hailing from Uttar Pradesh, died on the spot due to serious injuries on his face and chest following the major blast in the air pressure tank on Monday evening.

Sources said that the incident occurred at about 8.30pm at the Chemiorganic Chemicals Private Limited located at Jhagadia GIDC in Bharuch district. The deceased was performing the fabrication work at the under-construction portion at the company premises when the blast took place in the air pressure tank.
The Jhagadia police rushed to the spot following the incident. Police stated that the incident occurred due to the blast in the air pressure tank kept at the company premises where the fabrication work was going on. The deceased is contractual worker of the HK Fabrication in Jhagadia and that he was deployed for the fabrication work along with three other workers.
PH Vasava, police inspector of Jhagadia police station said, “The deceased was working alone at the time of incident. His fellow worker, Ravi Pandey, who was working at the other spot inside the company, heard the blast and that he rushed to the spot to find the deceased lying in the pool of blood.”
Vasava added, “The deceased had sustained serious face and chest injuries and that he died on the spot. A case has been registered and investigations are on.”
