THANE: After a surprise visit from senior civic officials last week revealed that under-qualified staff had been deployed at Saket Hospital to treat critical Covid patients, activists and political parties have demanded a thorough investigation into it.
They also sought to ascertain whether patients suffered or lost their lives due to this negligence.
Thane BJP president and MLC Niranjan Davkhare blamed the civic administration and Shiv Sena leadership. "Residents prefer Saket Hospital to private facilities and this puts a dent in their trust," said Dhavkhare.
A Congress functionary said similar drives should be conducted to weed out any more under-qualified staff deployed at other Covid facilities. A Mumbai-based agency is tasked with providing doctors and staff to the facility.
