Rewa skipper and loose-head prop Iakobo Bose, 40, loves rugby and is not ready to quit.

He wishes to represent Rewa for a few more years in the Skipper Cup Premiership competition from next year.

The Namosi native said it had been quite a journey for him having captained two provincial teams and help them qualify for the Skipper Cup from the Vodafone Vanua Championship.

He did it for Namosi and Rewa and would not forget the notable achievements.

The police officer got transferred to Nausori in 2017 and has represented Rewa since.

Rewa beat Nanukuloa 22-13 in the Vanua Championship semifinal last Saturday to gain promotion.

He represented Namosi for a number of years with the current Namosi head coach Asaeli Boko and Ilai Tinai.

“Rewa played in the Skipper Cup and we were relegated with Northland in 2019,” he said.

“And I’m happy that I’m still captain and play in the Skipper Cup Premiership next year.

“It was the same with Namosi. I captained the side when relegated and led it back to the Skipper Cup comp. And they are still there now.

“These would be the highlights of my rugby career and I will never forget the special moments.

“We’ve been given God-given talent so we should use it wisely. I am 40 and I’m still playing.

“I will give it a try for the 2021 Skipper Cup Premiership for another two or three years, will see how it goes and perhaps I will hang my boots.”

Bose indicated the men from the Delta are ready to take on Central Vanua Zone champions Northland.

This would be their third match with Rewa winning their second clash while Northland won their opening encounter.

“This will be our third encounter and I know they have prepared well for this final as they are the champions of the Central Vanua Zone.

“We will try our best to beat them and be Vanua champions.

“For our preparation, we are just working on our weaknesses from last week against Nanukuloa.

“Improving our general play is our focus at training.

“We’ve the advantage upfront against Nanukuloa but Northland have a good pack of forwards too so we need to be solid,” he added.

He also acknowledged the hundreds of Rewa fans who travelled to Garvey Park on Saturday.

“I have been playing for a good number of years, but seeing last week’s supporters for Rewa was a new thing. It really boosted our performance,” he said.

“I know this week will be better and we would like to thank them for being behind the team.”

Rewa will face Northland in the Vodafone Vanua Championship final at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, at 3pm on Saturday. The winner will challenge the Bainimarama Shield, but not the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy.

Meanwhile, the Macuata women will play Serua, while the Northland U19 will face Ba.
