Bihar: Youth jailed for raping and killing minor niece in Muzaffarpur

PATNA: Police on Wednesday forwarded a youth to judicial custody after producing him before court for allegedly raping and killing his sister’s nine year old daughter after consuming liquor at village Balli Saraiyya under Saraiyya police station area in Muzaffarpur. The accused was identified as Vijay Kumar, aged around 22 year.
Saraiyya SDPO Rajesh Kumar Sharma on Wednesday said that the incident took place on Monday night but it came to light before police at around 10am on Tuesday after the victim’s body was found at a secluded place by some villagers.He said victim’s legging was not on her body.
Sharma said that after priliminary investigation, police came to know that the slain victim was spotted going towards the place with her maternal uncle where her body was finally recovered.
“Sharma had took the minor girl away from residence at around 7pm on Monday and purchased her a packet of snacks from village’s lone shop. He had also purchased cigarette and matchbox from the same shop. Some villagers and shopkeeper corroborated these facts,” SDPO said.
He said that Vijay is native of Ranchi and had reached at his sister’s residence in Saraiyya at around 2pm on Monday.
SDPO Sharma said that cigarette bud, matchbox and snacks packet was recovered by forensic experts from the spot and were seized.
“After police detained Vijay and interrogated him on Tuesday, he confessed to have raped and killed her by throttling after consuming liquor. Thereafter he was arrested and forwarded to jail on Wednesday,” Sharma said.
He said that after commiting crime, Vijay later returned at his sister’s home but denied having any knowledge about the niece when asked by family members who kept searching her whole night.
He said that Vijay was also involved in searching the girl and stood with minor’s parents when her body was recovered in order to avoid suspicion.
SDPO Sharma said slain victim’s blood stained legging was recovered from spot.
“Police also seized Vijay’s innerwear which had victim’s bloodstains on them. These items would be sent for forensic analysis to establish in court that Vijay is the culprit,” Sharma said. He said police has strong evidence in the case against Vijay to ensure conviction.
