Stock market update: Bank stocks down; IndusInd Bank slips 2%

NEW DELHI: Bank stocks were trading lower at 12:22PM (IST) on Thursday.

Shares of Bandhan Bank (down 1.87 per cent), IndusInd Bank (down 1.8 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 0.96 per cent), Federal Bank (down 0.88 per cent) and HDFC Bank (down 0.82 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While IDFC Bank (up 1.92 per cent), Axis Bank (up 0.53 per cent), Punjab National Bank (up 0.18 per cent) and RBL Bank (up 0.11 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.52 per cent down at 24507.9 around 12:22PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 40.00 points at 11897.65, while the BSE Sensex was down 132.12 points at 40575.19.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Vedanta , Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Hathway Cable, Ceat, Tata Elxsi, JSW Steel and Ruchi Soya Inds hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd., Uniinfo Telecom Services Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., Madhya Pradesh Today Media Ltd., Silver Touch Technologies Ltd. and Shrenik Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
