THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As cases are reducing in some parts of the state, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has warned against complacency. He has insisted on continuing week-long quarantine even after recovering from Covid-19.
The CM advised against having misconceptions about the severity of Covid-19 citing that in several cases the Covid affected had serious health issues even after testing negative.
It is learned that if organs were affected severe complications are likely in the long run. "Hence everyone should continue their quarantine for seven days even after they have tested negative. The post-Covid syndrome can be severe and hence the patients will have to be very careful even after they are tested negative,’’ he said. The chief minister said the increasing positivity rate in Kasargod is a matter of concern and hence it has been decided to strengthen the screening of the people who are crossing the borders. It will be ensured that those who are coming from neighbouring states are registered in the Covid Jagratha portal.
‘MCH controversy baseless’
The Chief Minister has termed baseless the controversy over the Kalamassery medical college hospital. "It has become evident that there was no truth in it. But there was an attempt to capitalize on the opportunity from the part of a few doctors. This is being viewed seriously,’’ said the chief minister.
The CM said that a misleading post had created the controversy. However, health workers in the same hospital have said it was not true. But there are a few sections of people who are waiting for such chances to create a negative campaign against the hospital. That is most unfortunate, he added.
