GUWAHATI: Janasankhya Samadhan Foundation (JSF)
Northeast Chapter chairman Sailendra Pandey hailed the
Assam education minister
Himanta Biswa Sarma for his
recent decision to close down all government-run madrassas in the state and convert them into general schools in November.
Addressing a JSF national webinar recently, Pandey also said “such a bold decision will benefit the education system in the state” and thus help the nation fight against the expanding population.
“Our educational system has been pathetic in the the past 70 years and should be changed. The state of Assam shares its border with Bangladesh, which has already contained its population issue. However, labourers from that nation have been infiltrating and changing the demography of Assam. We need a strict population law to control such illegal activities, which will lead to the destruction of our mother nature,” said Pandey.
Pandey said the JSF Northeast Chapter has been tirelessly working in the region to enforce the population control law through awareness campaigns and adopting strict law policies.
Pandey added that the Assam
government had already implemented two-child policies in an advertisement for filling the vacancy in the Assam secretariat. Similarly, UP and Bihar governments had also tried to introduce two-child policies for both government jobs and panchayat elections in their states.
“We believe that very shortly, the Centre will implement a strong policy for population control. We are proud that the Assam government had already passed such a bill and are trying to implement it in the state,” Pandey added.
JSF has been batting to form a referendum for implementing strict population control law by organizing awareness programmes across the country since 2017.
