NEW DELHI: Congress leader
Rahul Gandhi has responded to the criticism over visiting Hathras but not meeting rape victim and their families in Punjab, Rajasthan, saying the two states are 'not denying girl was raped', unlike the UP government in the Hathras case.
"Unlike in UP, the governments of Punjab and Rajasthan are NOT denying that the girl was raped, threatening her family and blocking the course of justice," tweeted Rahul Gandhi.
He further said if these two governments end up doing the same, he will go there to "fight for justice"
The BJP today hit out at Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for their "selective outrage" in cases of atrocities against women as it questioned their "silence" over the alleged rape and killing of a six-year-old girl in Punjab.
"The pretentious Congress has not said a word. The tweet-friendly Rahul Gandhi has not tweeted on the
Hoshiarpur incident. There has been no outrage. And no picnic either," said
Nirmala Sitharaman.
Union minister
Prakash Javadekar too slammed the two Congress leaders and asked why had they not paid a visit to the family of the victim in Punjab yet.
