YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – President Donald Trump was in central Ohio on Saturday — it seems to be a place where he’s concentrating, trying to win Ohio again. But, the president still had a presence on Monday in Northeast Ohio with his son campaigning in Youngstown.

Donald Trump, Jr. walked into the Maronite Center on Meridian Road and was ready for anything. It took 90 seconds for someone to shout a question asking about the hard-working men and women who have lost their jobs in the area.

“Donald Trump created the most jobs in the history of the United States,” Donald, Jr. said.

Donald, Jr. spent plenty of time talking about Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. He tried to persuade Youngstown they could identify with him more than they could with the Democratic presidential candidate.

“I’m the son of a billionaire from Manhattan and I have had more blue-collar jobs than Joe Biden,” Donald, Jr. said.

Donald, Jr. painted a picture of his father’s accomplishments as president and contrasted it with what he perceived as a lack of accomplishments from the political career of Biden.

“I get that you have friends who say, ‘Well, I don’t like the tweets.’ Well, guess what? Part of that attitude is why we’re getting things done, because he’s willing to fight for you,” Donald, Jr. said.

Donald, Jr. admitted he had a little of his father’s genes and said he can’t turn it off.

He talked about bringing U.S. troops home from overseas wars that have lingered too long and wanted Youngstown to share in the benefits.

“Now that we’re not building roads, tunnels and bridges in Afghanistan to get blown up two weeks later, why don’t we build them in Youngstown,” Donald, Jr. said.

Donald, Jr. only spoke for about a half-hour before heading to other events in Ohio and Michigan.

Biden supporters were across the street from the venue holding signs.
