Migos rapper Offset was briefly detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department on Saturday (October 24) after he drove past a rally of Donald Trump supporters in Beverly Hills.
The incident, which was partly live-streamed by Offset, showed officers asking him to get out of his car and the rapper refusing to do so, saying they have their guns drawn.
"I'm not going to move my hands from the steering wheel," he is heard saying.
After briefly detaining Offset, police released him but arrested Cardi B's cousin Marcelo Almanzar, who was also in the car. Police suspected he was carrying a concealed weapon and a loaded firearm. They set his bail at $35,000.
"Artist and Philanthropist Offset was detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department following an attack by aggressive Trump supporters," a statement from Offset's representatives reads. "He was released shortly thereafter. Offset thanks his fans for their support and wishes everyone peace and safety during these trying times."
According to police version, they acted after a participant in the Trump rally provided the license plate number of a car and reported that someone was pointing a gun from inside the vehicle.
"The victim of the crime did not desire to press charges for the pointing of the weapon," police said in a statement. They also confirmed that Offset was not arrested.
