Excerpts…
‘Fashion’ completes 12 glorious years today. How does it feel?
It feels absolutely amazing. I feel like it happened just yesterday. ‘Fashion’ is still so fresh in people’s minds.
What makes the film still relevant for the audience even after 12 years?
I think it is the story and the performances of all the actors in the film that makes it relatable and relevant even after 12 years of its release.
How did you come on board for the film?
Directors and writers of ‘Fashion’ used to attend a lot of fashion shows and events as a part of their research for the film. It was then when they spotted me and offered me the role.

Is this the film you imagined you would make your debut with?
I never had a concrete idea of what kind of a film I would make my debut with as I had no aspirations of becoming an actor as such. However, I guess as a supermodel this was the best debut I could have asked for, a movie on the fashion world itself.

In one of your early interviews, you said that you can relate to your character of Janet Sequeira in the film. Can you please elaborate for us?
My character, Janet Sequeira knew the nitty-gritty of the business in the film. She learnt all with her long experience in the fashion industry itself. I relate to that because I learnt everything the same way. The only difference was that I’m a successful supermodel wherein Janet in the film has seen the other side.
Did you anticipate all the love and appreciation your character and the film received after it released?
Honestly, I did not anticipate it. It was a pleasant surprise for me. The fact that ‘Fashion’ has received so much appreciation and love from the audience took a while to sink in.
You have been part of the modeling industry, how accurate do you think the film was?
Having been a part of the modeling industry, I can say that ‘Fashion’ is most definitely a mix of facts and fiction.
How is Madhur Bhandarkar as a director and as a person?
Madhur Bhandarkar is an absolutely amazing director and a very simple person. He knows how to bring out the actor in you just perfectly. All the performances in his films always get appreciated.

Some people feel models can become actresses easily. Do you agree with the statement?
Yes, it is easy for models to become actresses if they are given the right roles. Both are eventually glamour industries. However, it all boils down to talent. It is the knowledge of your craft and your talent that will speak for you in the long run.
You have been part of this industry for 12 years now. Do you feel it is easy to make it in Bollywood?
It is easy to make it in Bollywood if you really believe in yourself. One must be calm and positive always. And if you really have it in you then no one can stop you. This applies to any field of life.
How would you describe your journey in showbiz so far?
I am super happy and content with whatever I have achieved so far. I have immense gratitude towards all those things that have made my journey alive till today.
You are also one of the fittest and most gorgeous looking actresses we have in Bollywood. Can you share your fitness mantra with us?
The fitness mantra is to make it your lifestyle. It’s very important to be fit to have a healthy life not only for actors but for all humans. Another simple mantra is to have a partner who is fitter than you so it keeps you motivated all the time.

How have you been dealing with the pandemic?
It’s been a challenging situation but with the grace of my Master ‘Tarneiv ji’ we are doing well. Chanting and meditation keep me positive.
What’s next?
Lots of work and a new digital market has opened numerous opportunities. I am happy to be in this phase as an actor.
