NEW DELHI: Former chief minister of Gujarat Keshubhai Patel passed away on Thursday post Covid-19 complications. He was 92. He was admitted at a hospital in Ahmedabad.
Patel who served as the chief minister of Gujarat for two terms, complained of difficulty in breathing on Thursday morning when he was taken to the hospital, where he breathed his last.
He had tested positive for coronavirus in the month of September.
The BJP leader was asymptomatic at the time of being diagnosed with Covid-19.

He underwent the test as one of his attendants was detected with the infection after which samples of the former were taken for antigen and the RT-PCR process, as told by Gandhinagar Civil Hospital Superintendent Dr Niyati Lakhani.

Patel was a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly six times. He quit the BJP in 2012 and floated the Gujarat Parivartan Party, which performed poorly in 2012 Assembly polls and merged with the BJP in 2014.
Born in Visavadar town of Junagadh district in 1928, Patel joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1945 as a pracharak. He started his political career as a worker for the Jan Sangh.
