In an spectacular turnaround for his team, the KXIP captain has led from the front and and helped them register 5 straight wins right after 5 defeats on the trot.

BCCI on Monday, rewarded the 28-year-old handsomely for his consistency in the white-ball format by appointing him as the vice-captain of Team India in the shortest two formats of the game for the upcoming Australia tour. Notably, Rohit Sharma, who has been Virat Kohli's deputy in the ODI and T20I format for a while now, has not been named in the squad for series' Down Under because of a hamstring injury which he has faced during the IPL. The Mumbai Indians captain has missed the last 3 matches of his side due to the same reason and suspense remains on his availability for the upcoming games.

However, the crafty right-hand batsman is in no mood to get carried away with the big news and plans to keep his focus on winning the IPL 13 trophy. He said that he would like to take one day at a time as the next few weeks will be very crucial.
