Strange things have happened on a cricket field but it's hard to see something as bizarre as this. In a European Cricket Series match between Catalunya Tigers CC and Pakcelona CC on Wednesday, two batsmen outsmarted the opposition side, especially their wicketkeeper, when 3 runs were needed off the last ball.

Catalunya Tigers batsman Adat Ali was on strike when the side needed 3 runs from 1 ball in Barcelona. The right-hander went for a big heave but completely missed the ball. However, he ran a bye even as the wicketkeeper failed to collect the ball cleanly.

However, Adat Ali urged his non-striker Azeem Azam to for the second run despite the wicketkeeper collecting the ball after the initial fumble.

Adat Ali played it smartly as he urged the non-striker to stay at the other end till he reached that end. As Azam began running to complete the run, Catalunya wicketkeeper threw the ball to the non-striker's end. Much the disappointment of Catalunya, the throw wasn't on target and Azeem completed the 2nd run.

The match ended in a tie with both teams finishing on 107 in 10 overs. and the 'Golden Ball' rule came into place to decide the winner. According to the rule which has been used in the European Cricket Series, the chasing team has to score more than 2 runs in 1 ball.

However, Pakcelona managed just 1 run in the Golden Ball and lost the fixture despite the rub of green going their way.
