North Carolina offers an online system, BallotTrax, where voters can trace the progress of their ballot.
Enter your name, date of birth and zip code to see if your ballot has been mailed to you, is in the mail back to be cast, or has been received by the county.
Once the county board receives it, they will assign a status to the ballot. If your ballot shows “accepted,” you have voted. If your ballot shows “pending” or has any other status, your county board of elections should contact you within 24 hours.
If your status is marked “spoiled,” then the ballot has been canceled. If you request an absentee ballot but then decide to vote in person, your absentee ballot may show in the system as “spoiled,” or canceled.
