Madhya Pradesh: Under-construction bridge collapses in Ujjain, 6 labourers injured

Six labourers injured after a portion of under construction river bridge collapsed in Ujjain. The incident happened in on Indore-Kota road in Tarana tehsil of Ujjain district on Thursday. District collector Asheesh Singh has suspended the site engineer and directed the police to lodge a complaint for negligent conduct with respect to machinery against the private contractor. The accident took place in the evening when a large slab was being installed on the bridge being constructed over the Kalisindh River. The labourers were working on the bridge when the slab fell on the dry riverbed, causing injuries to their limbs, Makadon police said. Additional SP Aakash Bhuria said the injured were rushed to a hospital where they were reported out of danger.
