Covid-19 death toll reaches 1,900 in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: With two deaths in 24 hours, the death toll due to Covid-19 in Ahmedabad reached 1,900. With this the district accounts for 51% of the total coronavirus deaths in Gujarat.
Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5 pm added 969 Covid-19 positive cases, taking the tally to 1.72 lakh. It was the sixth consecutive day of below 1,000 daily tally and the lowest tally in four days.
The new cases include 218 from Surat, 181 from Ahmedabad, 114 from Vadodara, and 74 from Rajkot.
With the update, the tally for these districts reached 36,585, 42,421, 15,709 and 12,682 respectively. The four major districts account for 62.4% of the total cases.
With deaths of six positive patients in 24 hours, the death toll reached 3,714 in the state. The deaths included two from Ahmedabad and Surat, and one each from Rajkot and Patan. Death toll in Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot reached 1,900, 843 and 162.
A total of 1,027 patients got discharged in 24 hours, taking the total to 1.55 lakh. The discharges include 234 from Surat and 224 from Ahmedabad.
With the update, the number of active cases in Gujarat reached 13,190. The share of active, discharged and deceased patients in total Covid-19 positive patients so far was 7.7%, 90.2% and 2.1% respectively.
Gujarat carried out 51,657 tests in 24 hours, taking the total to 60 lakh. As on Friday evening, Gujarat had 5.1 lakh persons under quarantine.
