Uttar Pradesh: Father son duo killed in village in Pratapgarh

PRAYAGRAJ: A father-son duo was allegedly shot dead by their neighbours with their licensed DBBL over a petty dispute in Balipur village under the jurisdiction of Hathigawan police station of the neighbouring Pratapgarh district on Monday evening.
This Balipur was the same village where a Deputy SP rank police official was killed by an infuriated mob in year 2013.
Upon being alerted, senior police officials including SP (Pratapgarh), Additional SP (West), Deputy SP (Kunda) and forces of six police stations rushed the spot and carried out investigation.

A heavy police force has been deployed in Balipur and adjoining areas to maintain law and order. The accused managed to flee from the village.
The deceased identified as Rajendra Bahadur Singh (50) and Abhay Pratap Singh (22), were residents of Balipur.
IG ( Prayagraj range) K P Singh told TOI that dispute over hanging electric wire led to the killing of father and son in Balipur village.
He added that the incident took place when a rice laden tractor belonging to Ranjeet Singh and his brother Bipin Singh was approaching towards their house.
As the electric wire connection of the victim’s house was hanging on low height was causing disturbance to the movement of rice laden tractor-trolley, two opposite camps of Ranjeet and Rajendra Bahadur came at loggerheads and exchanged heated words.

The scene took an ugly turn when Ranjeet singh and his supporters allegedly attacked the victim with sticks and later opened fire, killing father-son duo on the spot.
The firing incident created panic in the village and locals too came out and assembled on the spot. The police, however, managed to pacify the anger of the villagers and assured that stringent action would be taken against the culprits.
IG, meanwhile, said that three teams have been formed to nab the culprits. He added that police have been carrying out a series of raids in the same regard.
