Listen to Episode 48 of ‘Blue Rush’: Daniel Jones is Killing the Giants feat. Ian Eagle

Blue Rush Giants podcast Daniel Jones
N.Y. Post: Charles Wenzelberg

Going into Monday night’s game against the Buccaneers, nobody expected the Giants to win. When the game ended, it was stunning that they lost. Daniel Jones threw two inexcusable interceptions. The refs picked up a flag for defensive pass interference. The Giants lost the game 25-23 and fell to 1-7 in what was a nightmare first half of the season. This team could very well be 4-4 or 3-5. To break down the heartbreaking loss, we bring you a brand new episode of the “Blue Rush” podcast with Lawrence Tynes and Paul Schwartz.

The guys dive into Monday’s loss to open the show. Jones continues forcing balls into spots when he should be throwing the ball away or even taking a sack. Constant turnovers will eventually get a quarterback benched. Jones has an important second half of the season ahead of him. The guys discuss the refs picking up the flag on the two-point conversion that could have tied the game in the final minute. They talk about the good signs, which was the young offensive line playing well, including Shane Lemieux playing the entire game and Andrew Thomas’ improved performance. The other good sign is Patrick Graham and the defense, which continues to shine despite not having tons of talent.

In this week’s edition of “Tynes’ Take,” he talks about Jones’ struggles this season and his eight-game audition ahead. “Daniel Jones needs to be put on notice.”

One of the great broadcasters in all of sports, the legendary Ian Eagle, then joins the show. The NFL on CBS, YES Network, TNT and Westwood One play-by-play man talks about calling Monday night’s Giants game and Jones’ recurring turnovers. Eagle talks about his dad being a comedian and commercial star, traveling with him as a kid and how it helped him develop a humorous side to his broadcasts. Eagle gets into the most challenging sport to call, his experience in the NBA bubble, having no fans at games and the piped-in noise at the stadiums/arena. The longtime announcer also discusses working with Charles Davis on CBS this season, developing chemistry over Zoom meetings and his game-day routines. Eagle also talks about some of his memorable calls and catchphrases over the years and where some of them came from.
