Sambalpur: GM university gets career counselling & job cell

SAMBALPUR: The Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) in the city has set up a career counselling-cum-placement cell besides an internal quality assessment cell (IQAC). The two cells will be functional from Monday.
UC Pati, the deputy registrar of the varsity, said, “The state government had sanctioned Rs 18 lakh for a career counselling centre. However, the varsity set up the career counselling-cum-placement cell with the money.The objective of the cell is to counsel the students and help them in getting employment.”
He added that many talented students don’t know how to go about preparing themselves for jobs. The main responsibility of the placement cell will be to counsel, motivate, train and prepare students for interviews. It will organize programmes for personality development, mock aptitude tests, group discussion training and mock interviews. The placement cell will also organise workshops and meets with major companies for the students. Speakers from the corporate world will be invited to guide and motivate them. Seminars and conferences will take place at regular intervals. This apart, the cell will also make efforts to bring the companies to the varsity for campus placement, he said.
