BERHAMPUR: The Ganjam district administration has decided to set up grievance redressal system at the block level to address the complaints of the farmers during the paddy procurement process, slated to commence from the second week of December.
Assistant tehsildar, supply inspector and assistant registrar of cooperative societies will be in the committee to address the grievances of the farmers during the procurement of paddy, an official source said.

The district administration has decided set up the paddy procurement centres at panchayat level to facilitate smooth procurement process.
This was decided at the district level procurement committee (DLPC) meeting held at Chhatrapur on Thursday, where almost MLAs, including speaker S N Patro, forest minister Bikram Keshari Arukh attended through videoconferencing. District collector Vijay Amruta Kulange presided.
As many as 389 primary agriculture cooperative societies (PACSs), 51 women self help groups (WSHGs) and one pani panchayat will be participating in the procurement process, an official said.
This time more farmers are likely to supply their product as over 5,000 more farmers in the district have registered this year, expressing their willingness to participate in the paddy procurement process. Last year the paddy procurement started in the first week of December in the district.
