GORAKHPUR: Keeping up with the tradition of celebrating Diwali with the Vantangia community since last several years now, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday visited Tinkonia village of the community and celebrated the festival of loghts by distributing sweets and gits to the children.
The chief minister also gifted government projects worth Rs 75 lakh to the village and gave away letters of PM Gramin Awas scheme to allottees, dry ration kit and sweaters to locals.
He also visited an exhibition and took part in Annaprashan ceremony organised by the community.
Addressing the community, CM Adityanath said that it took 70 years for the government schemes to reach the Vantangia community. “Now you people can reach the district headquarters in 70 minutes from here. Earlier the government officials never visited your village and I had been a witness to this as I used to visit Vantangia villages at least once a year. Now I am aware that the people of administration visit you to deliver benefits of the Central and the state schemes," Yogi said. The government benefits started reaching the Vantangia villages after they were notified as revenue villages by the state government barely a year after Yogi became the chief minister.
"Earlier we used to sit in huts at Vantangia village but now Pucca houses are constructed here and this is the true Diwali,” Yogi said extending Diwali greetings to the villagers. He also appealed to the people to light a diya in memory of the martyrs. “I have come to your village directly from Ayodhya Dham where Deepotsava was organised. Now after 492 years construction of a grand Ram temple has begun. “
CM said the BJP government strongly believes that benefits of the state must reach to everyone irrespective of their caste or religion. "No one should be deprived of the government schemes. People’s representatives including the local MP and MLAs remain abreast with information and status of these schemes being rolled out in their respective regions. It is their duty to inform the people about these schemes and their implementation so that the people know what the government has done," the CM said. Citing statistics Yogi said every year 1,000 to 15,000 died of encephalitis till recently but this year only 21 deaths were reported due to this illness. "The time is not far when this disease will not be able to claim any life," he said.
