Beaches, parks in Alappuzha district to remain closed

The district administration has decided not to open beaches and parks in the district till the Covid-19 comes under control. ALAPPUZHA: The district administration has decided not to open beaches and parks in the district till the Covid-19 comes under control. District collector A Alexander said that at present, they could not open beaches and parks in the district to the public as the disease is not under complete control in the district.
“We have to continue the status quo regarding beaches and parks.
People are not allowed to visit these places,” Alexander said. Alappuzha beach, Marari, Thottapally, Arthunkal and Andhakaranazhi are the major beaches in Alappuzha district.
The collector also said that he has not extended the prohibitory orders in the district under Section 144 of the CrPC, which was in force here till November 15. Meanwhile, the district on Sunday reported 496 Covid-19 cases.
Of the fresh cases, 486 patients contracted the disease through local infection. The source of infection of eight people remains unknown. One health staff and a person who arrived from another state have also tested positive for the virus.
Meanwhile, 623 people who were under treatment in the district recovered on Sunday. At present, there are 8,521 active Covid-19 cases in the district.
